The first two weeks
The first two weeks in APEX was shaky I though college was going to be harder than what it actually was. I prepared myself for the worst so I can be great. I only had one friend and that was my roommate because I did not talk to everyone because when I was in high school that happened and I lost almost every friend but one or two. This experience in the first two weeks was stressful. I had homework out of every class every night and papers and projects were due on the same exact date so I did not know how to manage then I got the hang of it. Now the program is done and I am done with everything as well.
Wrapping up Writing/APEX for summer, looking toward fall (answer however you want to)
Wrapping up and finishing the APEX summer bridge program I have learned a lot of new information and meet new friends. This experience has had a big impact on my life it is a start to a new beginning for me. This APEX program gave me a second chance to become a Wayne State Warrior. The APEX courses have prepared me for college, and this is good because I have a head start on some of the incoming freshman that was unable to be a part of this summer bridge program like I was. I am grateful to be chosen for this program and it helped me as well as I have helped this program.
Describe what you want from education going forward
In my education I want to be successful and helpful I want to learn all about the body as much as I can. I want to be able to educate youth as well as I was educated. Education can make you successful and fortunate in life. I see myself getting the highest degree in Nursing, because I want to be a nurse. A work as one of the highest paid nurses in whatever hospital I will work in. Working with a higher level education can determine if you will keep your job or be laid off. Education is important and I believe every person should finish high school and college with a diploma from high school and a bachelor's degree from college.

Brainstroming: On the Learning objectives and connections to the class
The learning objectives that connect to the class learning is reading, writing, revision, and reflection they connect because we learned how to write as well as read over our drafts and our peer drafts so that they can have a better paper and my opinion on what they are writing on. This is important because rough drafts can get you very far. Revising your own paper and having your peers and professor revise it is different because they see mistakes that you don't, because it is not their writing and they are able to see mistakes better. The reflection papers are good because you are able to correct your own mistakes look over your work your feedback on your work and work on things that need to be improved.
Reflective argument blog
Jameelah Robinson, since I have been in the APEX program I have meet multiple people mainly in my group. On orientation day I saw a few students from my school here but in school I did not really associate with them like that. I then met my room mate on the first day on campus we collaborated very well. Then I found out that we were not in the same group so I had to make a new friends instead. I later had to do a group assignment in English 1010 class and that is the day that I meet Cash'mere, Jasmine, and Adore'Ray. We meet doing the response assignment and became very good friends and had lots of laughter's. We then had another group assignment in Ms. Pinder's class that was different and that is when I met Aliah, Brianna and learned more about Taylor we also became good friends had a lot in common and was always looking at funny instagram post on my iPod and we laughed and finish our group work. Then we meet in almost every night to practice our group speech and we helped one another. Then that one time in class we were all working together for Luke class then I understood the article better so I helped my group get a better understanding as well.

What is the differences between the sample reflections. Which do you feel is better? Why?
Sample one portfolio was about how the writers was given feedback and used it to help them write their paper as well as what they learned out of English 1010 their weakest and strongest of their own writing. The writer had a strong thesis for the reflective argument they stated what they were going to talk about but they did not go in order but everything in the thesis was covered. Sample three talks about how the writer improved in their writing they did not doubt themselves but writing was their weakest subject. They did plenty of research and was going off topic but also coming back as well. I feel that sample one is better and my reason why is because the writer is more detailed and explainable because of her thesis statement the writer had everything in the thesis but was not in order but still talked about it all. In sample three the writer only put a few things in their thesis but was talking about way more then what was in their.
The Scoring of Writing Portfolios: Phase 2 Eward M. White: Reading notes
The Scoring of writing portfolios is about holistic scoring, and how it affects portfolios. Holistic scoring is a standard base test for scoring papers. This affects portfolios because you are not allowed to grade how you want you grade on a specific grading base. Holistic scoring gives teachers a lazy way of grading so that they do not have to work as hard and not grade as much. Believe it or not almost all assessments are scored holistically because of time and money issues. Holistic scoring came about by Educational testing services they found a fast and money efficient way to grade essay quizzes.
"My favorite moment of EN 1010 was..." "I think the most important thing I learned was..."
My favorite moment in English class is when we had to do a group speech about our summary and response essay. Mines was called Some Thoughts About Feelings By Susan McLeod. They were pretty easy but were also very fun because I was able to tell the class what I learned from reading that hard text that I barely understood in the beginning I had a totally different look than what the actually article was about. Sitting down with my Professor Luke I learned that the article was about helping students with writing anxiety, and to motivate them durning their writing. I learned that I should read and annoate articles as I read, to get a clear understanding of what the main point of the article is.
What was your drafting process like before this class? Has it changed? How? If not, why not?
Before I started English 1010 at Wayne State Unviersity with Luke my drafting process was mainly my final draft I never really read over my work, or had others opinions on it. I would read over sentence by sentence but not paragraph by paragraph. My work was always rushed because I was a Procrastinator, and did work at the last mintue unless it was aome type of Math. English is my worst subject and I have never really been a fan of it. This process has changed me because I do not rush my papers I actually get others feedback and fix errors and read the full paper over. This is how and why the drafting process has changed me in English and my writing process as far as drafting.
What was the single most important advice you got in workshop? Why do you feel this was so important?
The single most important advice that I have receive in a work shop was my feedback from my tutors, peers, and you Luke my professor. This is a great resource because its a tool that is useful in college for all students not just the one's who are college student that are doing great and those that are struggling. This is important to me because my writing is not only improving I am getting other opinons on my paper's that can possibly help me receive a better score.

Zero tolerance: School-to-prison pipline must end by Victoria Middleton & Zero Tolerance: Strict Policy is necessary, misunderstood by Thomas D. White JR
the article school-To-Prison Pipeline must end talks about school-to-prison pipeline" and how we need to spend more of our time with little issues between the school instead of getting the police involved. This thing for zero tolerance it has to stop according to Victoria Middleton she disagree with these rules of sending children straight to juvenile justice systems. They tend to send students to DJJ for uncalled reason that should be handled by that school like disorderly conduct and or truancy which means they get expelled it is not right we then tend to have more dropouts than graduates. This need to stop we need to focus on more important things and stop spending so many tax dollars on DJJ stuff that is unnecessary.
The article Strict Policy is necessary; misunderstood
by Thomas D. White JR talks about safety in classes, and schools for the
students and administration. Without these people there is technically no
school just a building that needs to be protected. Zero tolerance polices need
to be enforced because now in life for our generations there are to many
deaths, killings that were unnecessary or cause by horseplay that lead to being
serious but you can stop it right away if you are able to stop violence with
zero tolerance behavior that way nothing goes wrong and everyone is safe there
are other ways to have fun and a lot of fun with out horseplay.

Today July 22, 2013 what is plagiarism and how to be educated on it
Plagiarism is when you use others words, sentence structure, and using pictures as your own with out citing them and telling where you received the information from. I will try not to plagiarism again because I have been plagiarizing all my life because I used others pictures and never cite where I got them from. So for now on since I am not going to plagiarize since I am educated on it.

Revising Summaries
Me being confusing was the most important thing to change in my summary because it doesn't flow very well and it isn't clear. More importantly my spelling and grammar, I didn't take enough of my time to look over my summary or my reflection carefully. I needed more peer response to review and check my summary before I turned it in. My summary is indirect it's very confusing, and worded horrible. In the first paragraph second sentence I was trying to say that people should believe in phenomenal things as they are learning so that writing can become interesting and fun to the students. In this process of my writing I didn't do a rough draft I just winged it meaning that I went off my first draft that I reread multiple times and turned it in.
In the future I plan to change these issues by making a shitty rough draft first, then a rough draft, then a second rough draft, and finally a copy. This will help me because I will have multiple drafts and can have a lot of people help me to revise it and check and correct my paper.

Shitty First Drafts by Anne Lamott from Bird byBird
The article "Shitty First Drafts" talks about the importance of the writing process and the product of your writing. The quote "the fantasy of the uninitiated" (Lamott, par 1)  means that it doesn't really matter the quality it means the quantity of your first rough draft is going to be more than likely longer then your final paper because every thought you may receive should go towards your first rough draft and then by the third draft it should be nearly perfect. Writing your first draft is more of a process then a product because the process is fixable and easier to fix than just a product because you have to go threw a process for everything that is ow a shitty first draft then become a good second draft and a third draft become terrific.

summarizing (pages 28-31)
As I read the article "custom text" (pages 28-31) I learn how to response, about responses, and I also learned how to analyze, and what analyzing is.You must closely and carefully read the authors writing and then response with the best answer possible,I also learned after reading custom text how to response in multiple way such as arguments, and your own point of view and more. As I continue to read "custom text" I found some interesting facts about analyzing, you learn how to break down the summaries and articles and to find ways to setup and conclude the passage or article. When analyzing you should look for two main things and they are: what is the clam or the argument and how the author is making the claim or argument.

workshop
My summary is okay it wasn't perfect I have a few things to change. My strongest points in my summary are my structure and organization. My weakest point from the summary was using the transitional word "also" to much so I goggled similar synonym's and came up with more words to transition my summary. Nice introduction and conclusion. According to my group members.
America's brain gain
As I read American brain gain I research that Mr.Geoffrey Parker
was a professor at St. Andrews University in Scotland, he was then
offered a position triple his salary at the University of Illinois in
the U.S. According to the education experts many students have crossed
the borders to join American schools for better education.
It was interesting learning others struggle and how they survived the struggle and still maintained to manage school. Last year out of 700,000 American University professors 2,750 were foreigners. According to the education experts this number has doubled over a decade. For example at the University of Illinois 270 of their teachers were foreigners. The largest number of foreigners from last year was from Canada with 205, India with 193,and more, nearly half of the foreigner teachers came from Asia.
Eventually, Professor Parker 43 years of age took the offer at the University of Illinois the same day it was offered to him, he was very excited. When he started working for them he knew it would be different but he didn't know whether it was for better or worst. It turned out to be for the better. In England they cut their schools budgets not only once but twice by 15 percent both times. In Mr. Smelser opinion which i agree with is "if you stay in school long you will have more money and more job opportunities with higher salaries. Stephen Duck came from England to the United States and made double his salary here in the U.S.
Business and engineer majors have great opportunities once they receive their master degree. The amount of money wont change and neither will the people unless they choose to get fired or something. Mr.Duck says that there is more freedom in the U.S than their is in England.
In conclusion this article is talking about how foreign students come to America to receive their education because it better.

Home Page: About Jameelah
- I am not a writer. I actually am horrible at writing my greatest strength is once I start writing I have a lot of idea so once I start its easy to keep going.
 - My weakest strength in writing is jumping of the topic going from oranges to apples that is my biggest mistake in writing. I am weak with punctuations and grammar, I am probably on a 9th grade reading level at the most. I am weak in just about everything for English and reading my whole life I have been a math student and I love math just really hate English.
 - In this class I would like to learn how to write better. Become a better person in English and strength my weakness. I plan to be a college level writer when I leave this class.
 - I plan on writing multiple papers through college so I will use this in my future. Becoming a nurse I will right multiple papers and this how I use writing in my future life.
 - currently I only use writing as a necessity in class no outside work because I am not my right level in writing and I am afraid of embarrassment.
 - My favorite book series is the "Drama High" Book series the only books I have actually read on my free time anything else I have read was mandatory for school and I barely read those I am not reader I haven't found a way to make it fun so if I am reading I am going to sleep more than likely unless I force myself to read it.
 - Ummm lets see I went to Martin Luther King Jr.Sr. high school in Detroit Mi. I have been there since (9th-12th) grade. I swam for my high school I have been swimming since I was 4.
